Principal's Message

Dear Albemarle Middle School Families, Students, and Staff,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you are enjoying a restful summer. As we prepare to begin a new school year, I want to take a moment to welcome each of you, whether you’re returning to our halls or joining us for the first time, to Albemarle Middle School.
For many years, Albemarle Middle stood as a proud symbol of academic excellence, strong traditions, and community pride. Our legacy has been built by generations of dedicated educators, passionate students, and supportive families. While we have faced some challenges, we are not defined by our struggles; we are defined by how we rise to meet them. This year we will focus on our school theme: Setting the Standard.
We are committed to rekindling the spirit that made our school special. That means strengthening the relationships between home and school, setting high expectations for all, and creating a culture where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
We are investing in a learning environment that is safe, respectful, and engaging. Our staff is dedicated, our students are full of potential, and our families are essential partners in this journey. Whether it's through academics, the arts, athletics, or community service, we will work together to ensure that every child excels.
We may be in a season of rebuilding, but I firmly believe that with unity, transparency, and shared purpose, we can restore Albemarle Middle to a place of pride. Not by returning to the past but by creating a future that honors our roots and meets the needs of today.
Thank you for believing in our school and for walking alongside us in this important work. I am excited for what lies ahead and confident in what we can accomplish together.
With respect and optimism,
Shannon Long, Principal
